Wooden Boat Construction and Restoration

We all like enjoy a perfect weekend on a boat. The construction process of a boat is also enthralling. Let us explore the wooden boat construction process. The first step of any boat production is the mould preparation, which is done in a controlled environment. Boat moulds are made of fibreglass which provides the strength and smoothness to the whole structure. Then a premium polyester NPG gel layer is coated on it. This is done to provide colour retention, a high gloss, and superior resistance to fading on the boat. Full attention is given in this process so that the customer is satisfied. After this is done, vacuum infusion is done, which is basically a process in which vacuum is used to pull the resin in the mould. Vacuum infusion is done to avoid air gaps and the hand lay-up inconsistencies. Furthermore, this helps in making the boat light weight and environment- friendly and strong. The next step is the fibre glass grid system installation. The grids are fitted in the hull. The grids are moulded differently for every model to make it fit perfectly. This provides the safety and strength, which are the two most important considerations of the manufacturing process. After the fibreglass grid system installation, foam floatation is installed. The foam is cured accurately, and then the moulds are removed. The boat is reviewed after this.

Now it’s time to install fuel system in the boat structure. There are different fuel systems that can be installed in your boat according to your need and the model of the boat. Every fuel is designed so that it can provide accommodations for integral expansion and contraction. Now that we have installed the fuel system, we will fix the cockpit floor. The important factor to be kept in mind while doing this is the ratio of the strength and weight should be consistent. You can change this wooden boat restoration process later on if you are not happy with it. The cockpit floor is attached with the grid system with the help of strong adhesive. This process is completed by sealing this with the fibreglass laminate so that water cannot enter into the structure. The next step in the process is the making of the deck system, which also requires detailed attention and care. The deck’s overhang serves another purpose; it acts as a spray rail, which is responsible to keep the deck dry in the rough conditions. Now that your boat has a deck, it’s time to install other components into the boat, like centre consoles, leaning posts and other important items to complete your boat. We try to attach all the components in a permanent way so that all the components are secured and safe. It’s time to perform the final assembly, like electrical and wiring, hardware, canvas and cushions, windows and wind shields.

Yanmar is a company that believes in precision and safety measures to be followed in the making the boats. It has constructed many boats like Jane is a 46' Pilot House cruising gaff rigged cutter, carvel planked over steam bent frames of all timber construction. It is personally designed and adorned by the owner’s son, Rodney Eggleston, (who is a famous designer). When the engine is installed, we keep in mind the compatibility of all the components. A team of experts work on assembling all the components and making them work in coordination. After everything is installed, an inspection is conducted following tough standards so that the boat does not have any defects like leakages, balance issues, safety issues, and engine efficiency issues. We try to be innovative while designing every new boat and experiment with different custom looks and luxuries. The wiring and electronic fittings are rechecked so that there are no short circuit concerns and everything is working properly. There is no leverage when it comes to quality and security and the best resources are used in the whole process. The hardware used in the boat making is of high quality to provide best efficiency in all spheres of the performance scales. Different techniques, like vibration absorbing, are used to ensure safety and efficient performance. We have organized “Classic Boats for Sale” event, where you can find best boats for yourself which passes all our safety standards.
